Life
I have been exceedingly lucky in my life in a few areas (the lottery was not one of them). One of those areas is in my health and the health of my close friends and family. Death seems like one of those things that happens to other people. I can think my genes and my friend’s general good nature and decision making for some of this. And God.
One of my good friends just lost his mom and father in about a 9 month period. It’s hit home with me really hard just seeing him deal with this. He’s an internalizer so you would never know how he’s really feeling except for a second but I can’t imagine what that must feel like. We will all know this feeling one day but that day can never be too soon. I’ve had my sister for the last 30 years (almost) and my mom for almost 36. I can’t imagine not having 60 years more with either of them.
So take a second out of your day and be thankful for your loved ones.
Nap Time…
is my favorite time of day. I have time to get things done without the toddler in the way..and sometimes watching that toddler sleep IS my favorite part of the day. She seems to have taken a note from God because some Sundays she will nap for 3 or 4 hours (her normal is 2).

Happy New Year! Can’t wait to see what this year has ahead – hopefully for me, it’s more sleep and more downtime from work – and LESS weight on my body. Let’s get it going!
Just a few more minutes…
Some mornings I just really want a few more minutes of sleep…or to just lie in bed as E starts to stir. Normally, once she is up, it’s ‘GO’ time.
But every now and then, she will roll around in her crib, turn her music on and fall back asleep. It may just be 5 minutes or , on the rare occasion, 30, but daddy will take it. <3
Thanksgiving 2015 – Florida Edition

The Williams Family Christmas – Thompsons Station 2015
The holidays with a baby definitely make travel…interesting. Whereas Christmas 2012, we visited 3 different states in the month of December, we are lucky to leave our zip code now. So seeing everyone we love definitely becomes more challenging!
We were lucky to have all of the Williams’ under one roof this past weekend. We had a great dinner courtesy of Honeybaked Ham (and Becky) and some awesome gift exchanging. We were able to catch the tail-end of Trees and Trucks at Gateway church and their EXCELLENT children’s show on Sunday. Besides that it was FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL (college and pros). And lots of time marveling and corralling Emerson!
I am so thankful to have had my mom, sister, stepdad and new brother-in-law visit. We all are the happier for it!!! And Emerson napped like a champ on Sunday so she definitely ran off some extra energy!
From a Dad – Remember when…
There are some things that happen now that I never would have imagined as a single man or even a non-parent. I thought I’d start a little list here and maybe update it over the years as E gives me more and more to laugh about.
I hope this strikes a chord with some other parents out there
- Nap time is cool again – for parents
- Bathroom door locks are a good thing
- Doors must be opened very slowly
- Gates are your friend
- Two parents are much better than one…heck, three might even be allowable!
- Getting up at 6:30 in the morning was EARLY
- You could go to the bathroom by yourself
- You got to listen to YOUR music in the car
- Walks in the parks didn’t require a stroller and a snails pace
- You could exercise?
- You were able to leave home with just your stuff
- Overnight trips didn’t require 7 pieces of luggage
- You could use your own cell phone without a tiny pair of hands all over it
- You finished a conversation
- After bedtime, the house didn’t become like a library (shhhhh)
- TV shows weren’t all animated
- YOU NEVER KNEW HOW HAPPY YOU COULD BE!!!!
Goodbye and Hello
This note goes out to my 2003 Honda Accord. 240,000 miles was all she could handle…..
Goodbye, my old friend. We spent 12 good years together and you were a good car. You brought my daughter home to her new house and my wife home to my existing one. You spent time in the garage and in the drive way. We totally OWNED I-65, I-40 and I-24 and we had some awesome road trips.
You’ve given me so much..and I’ve given you a lot ($$$) recently. Thank you for being my trusty friend all the years. You never left me once stranded. I hope you’re good for your next owner…
