This weekend, my sister-in-law Chrissy came into town. We also love her visits! Emerson especially!
Chrissy has been in several times over the last year – she was there when Emerson was born and when we brought her home and was sooo so helpful in making the decorations for her first birthday party! What an awesome aunt!
It’s the evening of our last TPAC show under our season pass. Yes, we are THOSE people. There were some great shows this year and we love supporting live theater. Thanks to everyone who watched Emerson so we could have some couple time together and enjoy the arts!
The surprising thing about this year is that the shows that I thought I would love I would up being disappointed in and vice versa.
Here is my rank in order of preference (Newsies is tonight so I can’t rank that one yet)
Book of Mormon
Chicago
Kinky Boots
Once
Pippin
Joseph we missed due to the great ice storm of 2015 and Camelot we gifted to some much loved friends.
Update: Newsies was AMAZING! Second best show of the year!!!
We officially made it through one year of daycare!
Becky missed 12 days this year. I’m not sure how many days I missed or left early/went in late What an adventure this year has been!
Thanks to Ann and Richele and Megan and all the other students at the eagles nest who loved on our little girl when we couldn’t. They truly are special people.
Becky and I decided to have Emerson dedicated at Church this past Sunday – which was also Mother’s Day.
We have grown quite found of Gateway Church. The pastor is the father of one of Becky’s students and a lot of people we know in the community go there. We have a harder time that others finding a church we both like since I was raised Baptist and Becky Lutheran. We really just wanted a church that we could grow with and raise a family in.
The Christmas pageant last year was kinda the deciding factor. The church was just full of so much caring and heart – and it all felt REAL.
Anyway, Emerson’s godfather (Tyler) and godmother (Lindsey) were able to stand beside us in front of the church as we all pledged to take care of Emerson’s spiritual self. Emerson, of course, had no idea what was going on and insisted on being passed back and forth from Mom to Dad several times.
All in all, we had a fantastic start to Mother’s Day 2015. It won’t soon be forgotten.
I haven’t cried in quite some time. I am not a big crier normally but sometimes a song or movie will just hit me. In the past 10 years, rarely has real life brought me to tears.
That changed this week. Emerson was really sick for the better part of 3 days. I took a day off of work to take care of her after Becky took her share of days. Emerson was really cuddly and snuggly which was nice and a departure from her current crazy toddler exploring phase. But she was just so hot…I think her temperature topped out at about 103. And she didn’t want to play much at all or do much of anything. These are not the kind of days off work that I like to take! What’s worse is that she can’t yet tell us what is wrong. Oh, how I long for those days!
She had this little whimper…not her big cry..but I’d rather have had the big cry. She was so hoarse and drinking hurt. Thank God she didn’t lose her appetite. Our little girl lost 1 lb in just a few short days. That doesn’t seem like that big of a deal but it’s about 5% of her whole body weight 🙁
The final outcome was she picked up a little virus and we *think* she about has it knocked out of her system…well, until another ear infection came in and caused another round of illness. 4 colds in 3 weeks!
Thanks to all the friends and family who prayed for her and watched her so me and Becky could get at least a few hours of work in.
I have a feeling this is going to be a very expensive month for me in the future – Emerson’s birthday, Becky’s birthday and our anniversary. all in a 25 day span. Wait, Mother’s Day is only a few weeks later too. Doh!
At least they are two incredible ladies to celebrate.
I have a one year old…I have a ONE year old. I can’t believe these words are true.
She’s been through the whole cycle – birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Memorial Day, Valentine’s Day, Fourth of July, her parent’s wedding anniversary….the list goes on and on.
She has made life so much more….FULL.
I love you my sweet little girl. I wish you a fantastic party tomorrow full of people who have affected your life.
It’s been a fantastic 3 years of being married…so many changes in these short years – a new car, a new address…oh, and the arrival of Emerson too.
I was talking with Becky the other day and trying to reminisce on some favorite memories from the past year. We both had trouble coming up with them – not because there aren’t any but because there are too many. Life has slowed down a lot but we still get out and have fun…and there is no shortage of daily and weekly chores we have to do that keep us occupied. We’ve still managed to sneak in a coffee date or two, afternoon movies and dining out at some Nashville Originals.
I’m looking forward to many more years of this life!
