Bye Bye 2014…..

I’ve always had issues with the end of the year. While it’s a very happy time with family and friends and celebrations galore, it also means you have to start over again…and there are no more paid holidays off work until Easter (MLK day if I’m working for a good company). Oh yeah, and I hate, hate, hate the time change that makes me not able to see the sun for 3 months of the year. Thanks to whoever started that…but I digress

Plus the past few years have been some of the best ever and harder to “top”. I’ll do a brief review

2010. I was training for my first 10K to (secretly) propose to Becky
2011. We were wedding planning like crazy.
2012. (probably the lowest on the totem pole) We were discussing whether it was the right time for me to go back to grad school
2013. We were awaiting Emerson’s arrival!!!!!!!

I’m sure 2015 will be great but man, this year has soooo many Kodak moments.

Happy Holidays – 2014 Edition

I’m not sure I love anything on this planet as much as Becky loves Christmas. I think the world would be a much better place if we all did. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of it too because it means a couple of paid days off work and time with family and friends. But her love for it goes beyond that. She starts prepping for it in November and planning our family dinner (hey, that works great for me).  Steak? Yes PLEASE!

Anywho, here are some pics from Christmas 2014 – Emerson’s first and our third as a married couple.  Time flies when you are having fun…and it zooms when you are having fun with a baby!

Hope to see you all soon!

Turkey Day 2014

It just worked out this year that the Williams’ spent their first Thanksgiving in Nashville in 2014 (the extended family all had alternate plans and mismatched schedules)! Becky planned and made a fantastic feast while Daddy and E played. The food was delicious (as have been the 5 days worth of leftovers!) We watched tons of football and loved just hanging out together!

We we capped the day off with dessert at some much loved friends’ house – The Spengler/Bradshaw crew! We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing, running errands around town and gearing up for the next holiday to come – CHRISTMAS. We were both sad to see Sunday afternoon come as it means the end of the 4 day weekend.

Halloweeeeeeeen

We had so much fun with our little one during her first Halloween. She had a ton of fun shirts to wear so she was wearing cute outfits almost the entire month of October.

We went to Bass Pro Shops where they had a fun Halloween layout and got some awesome pictures made.

We spent the actual evening at some of our best friend’s house (the Kirkendalls) and trick-or-treated with them. It was the coldest day of the year (at least to that point) so we couldn’t stay out long but we still scored some goodies!

Best Days

I haven’t posted here, yet. I keep thinking I should. I love writing, I love blogs and I adore our baby. So, here it is … my inaugural post.

The best days of my life …

April 16, 2011 – the day my love asked me to marry him

March 31, 2012 – our wedding day

August 19, 2013 – the day I found out I was pregnant

April 2, 2014 – the day our baby girl joined this world

When I was a little girl, I dreamt of my wedding and I prayed for babies. Yup, as early as 5 years old, I pranced around a shed praying for a baby girl (we’ll save that story for later). And at 13 years old I wrote a letter to my future husband (he still hasn’t received it as I’m sure it’s buried in boxes of memories).

And, here I am on November 12, 2014 … married and with a baby.

There are days I look at Brian and can’t believe he’s promised to love me forever. He is my husband. We had a magical wedding surrounded by people we love dearly. We are married – hand in hand for the rest of our lives.

And, it’s been over 450 days since I found out I was carrying my sweet Baby E. I look at her sweet face every day and am overwhelmed that I’m her mama. She is my little dream, my life changer, my joy, my world. When did I go from being a little girl to a woman with a little girl?

Life is flying by but it’s doing so in the most beautiful way.

Love,

Becky

Fall 2014

It’s been a great fall so far! The weather has been great and the family has been so happy. We had our first plane trip, our first family road trip (other than visiting people) and so many fun days at home exploring our “new” town. Becky and her theater troupe put on their first show post-baby and Brian started graduate school back up. Oh, and of course GiGi and Auntie K came in for much needed visits! All in all, this family is so lucky and blessed!

Daycare

Well, it’s been a fun ride but the time has come for both of us to return to the world of the working. Luckily day care is at the wife’s school so she can still check in on her from time to time. Dropping her off that first day was NOT an easy thing to do.

I’m so glad my girls got 17 weeks together. I couldn’t have imagined a better scenario. Their mother/daughter bond is so strong.

May God be with Ann, Rochelle and Renee as they take care of our girl and all the other children this 2014-15 school year. For now, there are only 4 girls in the “smaller” room so I wonder who her first “friend” will be!

4 Months

E is going to turn 4 months old officially in a few hours. It’s at the point where I am starting to forget how things were at first. I love her so much….

I made this little montage to see all the faces and personality traits that she has shown over the last 121 days.

The Godfather

Becky and I talked about who we wanted to help guide our daughter in her spiritual walk long before she was here. We are really big on the roles people play in our lives (and now our family) and making sure we make as informed a decision as possible.

For the Godfather, we couldn’t have picked anyone other than Tyler Henson. He has been a friend to me since 1999 (really) and has seen so many phases of my life – from the college kid who made ridiculously stupid decisions to a somewhat mature adult to the end of my bachelorhood into marriage and now fatherhood. He’s put up with more than his fair share of my BS and has stuck with me the entire way. We are in each other’s weddings and celebrate almost every major event together. Heck, we even get together every February for a group Hibachi dinner.  He is a true definition of friend.

ty and his goddaughter
I love thinking about him praying for our little girl and our daughters playing together in the future. She’s one lucky girl and we are two lucky parents.

College

I think it’s never too early to think about college for our little girl. The estimated cost of a 4 year degree is $442K. What? Really? How did I get out of school in 1998 with a 4 year degree that cost about $20K…and from a reputable Sun Belt conference school.

degree

With that being said..Becky and I are hoping that we can use birthdays and Christmas as times to add on extra to her account. We have a TN Stars 529 account started for her already – Dad started this as soon as we got her SSN.
Thank you for your support!
