Happy Holidays – 2014 Edition

I’m not sure I love anything on this planet as much as Becky loves Christmas. I think the world would be a much better place if we all did. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of it too because it means a couple of paid days off work and time with family and friends. But her love for it goes beyond that. She starts prepping for it in November and planning our family dinner (hey, that works great for me).  Steak? Yes PLEASE!

Anywho, here are some pics from Christmas 2014 – Emerson’s first and our third as a married couple.  Time flies when you are having fun…and it zooms when you are having fun with a baby!

Hope to see you all soon!

Turkey Day 2014

It just worked out this year that the Williams’ spent their first Thanksgiving in Nashville in 2014 (the extended family all had alternate plans and mismatched schedules)! Becky planned and made a fantastic feast while Daddy and E played. The food was delicious (as have been the 5 days worth of leftovers!) We watched tons of football and loved just hanging out together!

We we capped the day off with dessert at some much loved friends’ house – The Spengler/Bradshaw crew! We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing, running errands around town and gearing up for the next holiday to come – CHRISTMAS. We were both sad to see Sunday afternoon come as it means the end of the 4 day weekend.

Halloweeeeeeeen

We had so much fun with our little one during her first Halloween. She had a ton of fun shirts to wear so she was wearing cute outfits almost the entire month of October.

We went to Bass Pro Shops where they had a fun Halloween layout and got some awesome pictures made.

We spent the actual evening at some of our best friend’s house (the Kirkendalls) and trick-or-treated with them. It was the coldest day of the year (at least to that point) so we couldn’t stay out long but we still scored some goodies!

Best Days

I haven’t posted here, yet. I keep thinking I should. I love writing, I love blogs and I adore our baby. So, here it is … my inaugural post.

The best days of my life …

April 16, 2011 – the day my love asked me to marry him

March 31, 2012 – our wedding day

August 19, 2013 – the day I found out I was pregnant

April 2, 2014 – the day our baby girl joined this world

When I was a little girl, I dreamt of my wedding and I prayed for babies. Yup, as early as 5 years old, I pranced around a shed praying for a baby girl (we’ll save that story for later). And at 13 years old I wrote a letter to my future husband (he still hasn’t received it as I’m sure it’s buried in boxes of memories).

And, here I am on November 12, 2014 … married and with a baby.

There are days I look at Brian and can’t believe he’s promised to love me forever. He is my husband. We had a magical wedding surrounded by people we love dearly. We are married – hand in hand for the rest of our lives.

And, it’s been over 450 days since I found out I was carrying my sweet Baby E. I look at her sweet face every day and am overwhelmed that I’m her mama. She is my little dream, my life changer, my joy, my world. When did I go from being a little girl to a woman with a little girl?

Life is flying by but it’s doing so in the most beautiful way.

Love,

Becky

Fall 2014

It’s been a great fall so far! The weather has been great and the family has been so happy. We had our first plane trip, our first family road trip (other than visiting people) and so many fun days at home exploring our “new” town. Becky and her theater troupe put on their first show post-baby and Brian started graduate school back up. Oh, and of course GiGi and Auntie K came in for much needed visits! All in all, this family is so lucky and blessed!

Jace!

This past weekend will go down as one that will not soon be forgotten. About 13 months ago, Becky and I visited the Harpers in Colorado. We were shocked to be asked to be the godparents to their soon-to-be born little boy. We found out we were pregnant LITERALLY the day after returning from that trip so we had to delay the baptism until we could travel with our little bundle of joy safely (is travel with a baby on an airplane really safe or smart? And we DID look up how far it would be to drive-17 hours….hmmm…)

Back to the subject…on Sunday, September 28th, 2014, I stood beside my best friend and his wife with my wife and welcomed Jace into the community of baptized Christians. Also in attendance were about 25+ family members of Jace’s from all over the USA – Tennessee, Georgia, Illinois and a few others.

I am so glad to be his godfather and try to help him out where I can in this crazy world. In a way…he’ll help to keep ME on track as I go through my own spiritual journey.

Sorry no pics as the church wouldn’t allow them but enjoy the photos from Jace’s first birthday party weekend – it was definitely THE EVENT of the Arvada social season 🙂 AnneMarie did a phenomenal job – she deserves a few days off, a hot bath and a massage!

GiGi!

We had an awesome visit with GiGi (Brian’s Mom) this past weekend. We barely left the house except to get some food but we had an awesome time! Come back soon. I’m so glad we were able to share Emerson and all of her new “tricks” with her!

Auntie, now it’s your turn 🙂

Football!!!

It’s football time in Tennessee! We have had a great time cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers and Tennessee Titans to unbeaten records. I’m sure it’ll all change soon but time together with family and friends is what is gonna make this a PERFECT season (cheesy? who cares!)

1 Year Since Everything Changed…

1st Ultradound
1st ultrasound
4 1/2 months old!
4 1/2 months old!

Today marks one year since we found out that we would be having a child. And what a year it has been!

We didn’t know if we’d be having a boy or a girl. We didn’t know everything that we would need to take care of this baby. We didn’t know where to register. We didn’t know who to tell or when to tell them or what we would name a baby (well, sorta). We didn’t know…ANYTHING other than we were happy and blessed.

All we knew was that we had about 7 positive pregnancy tests and some Famous Dave’s BBQ and Gigi’s Cupcakes to eat. As we sat down to eat that night, we had no idea what the future would hold. I’m not sure how we sat still and ate our food or watched TV with this world-changing, Earth-shattering news.

Whatever we imagined, Emerson is better than all of it times 1000. She is the perfect baby for us. Her smile. her attitude, her general existence is a joy to behold. How she has opened our world up to so many people. How she has been loved and accepted and brought people together.

Dad-Brain

Dad-brain
I’m sure we have all heard of pregnancy brain. But I think there may be something like Dad brain too. Here are a list of things I have done since being a Dad. It truly is like nothing else I have ever experienced. I know it’s supposed to be life-changing but it has changed the way I think about EVERY decision I make.

1. Put a coffee cup upside down under the Keurig making coffee go EVERYWHERE
2. Put my keys in the freezer one morning
3. Forgot to close the lid on my coffee mug after putting it in my backpack and spilled coffee all over everything when I bent down to kiss my wife and daughter goodbye
4. I haven’t made it to work on time in well over 3 months – something comes up in the morning…or there is traffic…or I just want a few extra minutes with  my little girl
5. I can NEVER find my gosh darn wallet!!!!!
6. My multitasking ability is down to an all-time low

And others-

I’d trade a night with E over a night out grabbing a drink (although every now and again , it’s a MUST to get out!

Movies…eh, still love ’em but they have taken their rightful place as entertainment and not something I feel I HAVE to do.
